For over 50 years the Insular Lumber Company Railway moved logs from the teak and mahogany forests using a remarkable fleet including a 0-6-6-0 compound mallet, 2 3 truck shays and over 5 2 truck shays. When Insular Lumber Co. closed down in 1979, Lopez Sugar Central purchased both 3 truck shays. Here No. 10, preserved in running condition, sits outside the Lopez Mill main gate. No. 9, its less fortunate sister, is parked behind the mill where it is being slowly cannibalized to keep No. 10 running.
